Home Infusion Therapy Accreditation
We help solve the puzzle of Medicare eligibility.
I AM:
First things first
Infusion therapy as a standalone accreditation is specific to services associated with home-based administration of infused medication under the supervision of a registered nurse or pharmacist. ACHC holds “deemed status” for home infusion therapy (HIT), meaning that we have been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to validate eligibility for Medicare reimbursement for this service. These “deemed” surveys result in both accreditation and a recommendation for Medicare approval.
If your organization is a nursing agency providing this service, or you employ registered nurses to administer home infusion therapy, then you’re probably in the right place. Unsure? Contact Customer Care to talk through your business model and get started on the right path!
Welcome
Early in my career as an RN, I provided infusion services to home health patients. I later transitioned to a role consulting and educating new home health agencies offering home infusion patient services. These opportunities helped me understand the importance of trust in the relationship between the caregiver and the patient.
ACHC’s HIT team builds relationships based on a similar model of trust with our clients. We’ve seen all kinds of models for infusion services and we’ve helped dozens of organizations sort through regulatory and payor requirements to find the right accreditation to meet their needs.
We take great pride in our ability to understand and offer education to the organizations that seek our highly-valued approach to accreditation. We focus on quality patient care to help agencies build a culture of continuous improvement. It matters to us because it matters to your patients.

Home Infusion Therapy Accreditation Services
Services
ACHC Standards—the requirements you must meet to achieve ACHC Home Infusion Therapy Accreditation—are designed to be relevant to the focus of your business model. ACHC will work in partnership with you to build a customized accreditation solution that begins with understanding the services you provide.
Home Infusion Therapy Supplier services involve the administration of parenteral medications via various accesses and ports provided by a qualified Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or skilled professional, as allowed by state regulations, specifically trained in these specialized services. These services are provided in the home. A Registered Nurse or Pharmacist is responsible for supervision of all HITS services.
Providers seeking to meet the CMS Conditions for Coverage (CfCs) to receive Medicare reimbursement for infusion nursing services provided in the home must be accredited under ACHC’s Home Infusion Therapy Accreditation program.
