- ACHC and Vital Care Collaborate for Growth and Quality in Infusion Pharmacy Services
March 20, 2023
Can a healthcare company achieve success, improve access for patients, and maintain a commitment to quality?
Vital Care Infusion Services, LLC is a success story about meeting the challenge of doing well by doing good. Vital Care is a network of locally owned and operated infusion pharmacy franchises, many of which offer ambulatory infusion suites staffed by skilled nursing professionals to allow patients to receive their treatments in a clinically appropriate and comfortable environment. ACHC is proud to play a part in Vital Care’s success through a longstanding partnership that provides accreditation services for franchisees as they come on board.
“Our partnership has led to innovations designed to make infusion services more accessible,” said Matt Hughes, ACHC’s Vice President, Corporate Strategy. “And we’re especially proud to support Vital Care pharmacies that create access for patients in underserved markets.”
“The longstanding relationship between Vital Care and ACHC plays a crucial role in the success of our infusion pharmacies and infusion suites,” said Chris Newlin, PharmD, MBA, BCSCP, CSP, IgCP, CNSC, who serves as Vital Care’s Vice President of Franchise Development. ““In 2022, 30 new franchisees achieved initial accreditation status with ACHC with increased growth anticipated for 2023.”
A Customer-Focused Solution
As a way for new infusion pharmacies to accelerate their speed-to-market while providing the highest level of patient care services, Vital Care and ACHC collaborated to develop a new accreditation offering in ACHC’s portfolio. The solution to ensure a high-quality and expedited start for these pharmacies was the development of a unique service that would provide a two-part accreditation process. Part One, or the initial accreditation, is for Infusion Pharmacy Services without Sterile Compounding. This service focuses on the standards addressing the process of patient care and pharmacy-supplied durable medical equipment. Part Two includes an ACHC survey focused on sterile compounding services. The program was successfully piloted with Vital Care in 2022.
“This solution helps us provide our franchisees with the tools they need to deliver high-quality patient care services while meeting national regulations and employing industry best practices,” said Chris Newlin.
“We are grateful to have a partner like ACHC to help us in providing the absolute best care to all our patients across the nation,” said John King, Vital Care’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Operations. “The success of the relationship between ACHC and Vital Care comes from the commitment made by each organization to supporting the role that infusion pharmacies and infusion suites play in their communities.”
“Accreditation is about relationships,” said Mr. Hughes. “ACHC supports the organizations that seek our services by maintaining knowledge of the industry and providing ongoing education. Our work with Vital Care has helped its franchisees maintain compliance and deliver safe, high-quality services to the communities they serve.”
The Vital Care network spans the country with over 100 locations providing convenient, cost-effective infusion therapy services for chronic and acute patients at a local level. Through Vital Care’s streamlined, proprietary process and best-in-class support, pharmacies can thrive while focusing on what matters most: the patient.
