ACHC Deeming Authority for DMEPOS Accreditation

Raleigh, NC – The Accreditation Commission for Health Care is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services for deeming authority of DMEPOS accreditation. ACHC will be one among a few national accrediting bodies that DMEPOS providers, which includes retail pharmacies, can choose to meet accreditation requirements imposed by the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003.

ACHC has been identified in HomeCare Magazine surveys done in 2005 and 2006 as the number one choice of DME providers. The newly revised ACHC standards not only meet the requirements of the CMS Quality Standards, but they also enable applicants to better understand how each standard applies to their specific market segment. Applicants will benefit from streamlined standards and enhanced criterion definitions.

With the implementation of competitive acquisition just months away, ACHC is offering one day accreditation preparation workshops in Orlando, Houston, Atlanta, and Las Vegas to expedite preparation for on-site surveys (dates to be announced).

In addition; there will be a series of interactive webinars also available for applicants. The Webinars will have three ninety minute sessions conducted over a two month period which will include a time of Q&A. For workshop or webinar registration information contact Yvette Garofalo or Deric Rutledge at (919)-785-1214 or go to www.achc.org to access needed information.

Our experiences with the ACHC accreditation process have been positive. The effort put forth by the ACHC staff is perceptible as they use the survey process as a tool to help our company become even better.
